Demi’s Nigerian Restaurant & Bar delivers homestyle Nigerian cuisine infused with creativity and elegance. A beloved local gem with two branches, including its Streatham location, it’s lauded for bringing authentic flavours and a welcoming atmosphere to South London dining culture.
My journey to this point is one of immense passion to recreate and experience the flavours, spices and aroma that made my childhood memories. Like most people, I have great memories of my childhood food experiences that are attached to particular feelings. From Iya - Abeigi (Street food stall) to Iyadunni (buka) and Blue House (Restaurant and Bar). With over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry and a combined 25 years plus, I partnered with my lifelong partner Hannah, to share the authentic Nigerian taste with you. At Demi's, we source the best ingredients and organic recipes for all the dishes on our menu, from our signature party Jollof to our popular buka stew. Our aim is for you to experience our culture through our flavours at any of our locations. Come on in, the taste of Home awaits.
The menu at Demi’s is a showcase of Nigeria’s most beloved dishes, each prepared with fresh ingredients and bold spices:
Jollof Rice with Fried Plantain – Long-grain rice simmered in a rich tomato and pepper base, infused with aromatic herbs and served alongside sweet, golden-brown plantain.
Abula (Amala, Gbegiri, Ewedu) – A traditional Yoruba trio: Amala (yam flour dough) paired with silky Gbegiri (bean soup) and Ewedu (jute leaves stew), served with a spicy meat-based sauce.
Egusi Soup – Made with ground melon seeds and slow-cooked with spinach, peppers, and assorted meats, this thick, savoury soup is best enjoyed with pounded yam.
Ogbono & Okro Soup – A combination of draw soups, both made with indigenous ingredients to create a smooth, mucilaginous texture that enhances the rich flavour of stewed meats.
Goat Meat Pepper Soup – A spicy broth seasoned with African spices and loaded with tender goat meat, often served as a comforting appetiser.
Celebrity Stew – A tomato and chilli-based sauce cooked with fried meats, offering a rich, bold flavour that pairs well with rice or yam.
The setting is casual yet stylish, offering a relaxed space for family meals, gatherings, or solo dining. The warm interior and attentive service reflect the hospitality typical of Nigerian culture.
